  • Ozone (O3) is a highly reactive gas composed of three oxygen atoms. While it’s known for its role in the Earth’s atmosphere, protecting us from UV rays, it is also used in water sanitation. In hot tubs, ozone acts as a powerful cleaning agent that helps purify water by breaking down contaminants. 

  • A hot tub ozonator, or ozone generator, is a device that injects ozone gas into the hot tub water. This process helps break down contaminants such as lotions, soaps, body oils, and saliva, enhancing water clarity and cleanliness while reducing the need for chemicals.

  • An ozonator generates ozone gas that reacts with the water in your hot tub. The ozone molecules split and attach to contaminants, breaking them down. This process enhances the effectiveness of sanitizing chemicals, allowing them to work more efficiently and last longer.

  • An ozonator is not strictly necessary for a hot tub to function, but it can be highly beneficial. It reduces the amount of chemicals needed, extends the life of those chemicals, and can prolong the time between water changes.     • EOS™ O3 Enhanced Ozone System: This system generates up to twice the amount of ozone as standard systems and effectively sanitizes water, killing 99.9% of microorganisms. 
    • WellSpring™ Ozone Purifier System: This system uses corona discharge technology to create ozone, increasing the purification potential of your spa’s water and reducing the need for sanitizing chemicals. 

  • An ozonator generally lasts between three to five years. Some models may require cartridge replacements, which have varying lifespans. For example, the EOS™ O3 has replaceable cartridges that last about two years, contributing to the system’s overall longevity.

  • An ozonator helps keep your hot tub water clearer and cleaner with fewer chemicals. It extends the life of sanitizing chemicals and can reduce the frequency of water changes.
